NIFTY 50 and SENSEX, in context

Current levels, intraday movement and day statistics for India's two headline indices.

How to read this

Three things worth remembering

We publish market data because clients ask for it — with the caveats that make it useful rather than harmful.

01

Index levels are not your returns

A portfolio built around your goals will not track the index, and it is not meant to. Use these numbers for context, not as a benchmark for your own plan.

02

Intraday movement is mostly noise

Over a ten-year horizon, almost none of what happens on a given afternoon matters. The chart is here because it is useful context, not because it is actionable.

03

Reacting is the expensive part

Investors who trade on daily moves reliably underperform the funds they hold. The discipline to do nothing is worth more than the information on this page.

Index data is provided for information only and may be delayed. It does not constitute a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Past index performance is not indicative of future returns.

Markets move. Plans should not.

If a day like today is making you reconsider your allocation, that is usually a sign the allocation was wrong for you — not that today matters.
